Hi there👋

This term, EcoActive continued to make a meaningful impact through our drowning prevention, academic support, and youth development programmes, reaching hundreds of learners across partner schools in the South Peninsula.

🏊‍♀️ Drowning Prevention Swimming Lessons – Over a period of 8 weeks a total of 268 kids participated in our drowning prevention lessons from Capricorn, Floreat, Levana, Hillwood, and Zerilda Park, helping children build water confidence and vital lifesaving skills.

📚 Academic Support Programme – 32 lessons were provided to learners needing extra academic guidance and mentoring to improve performance and prepare for high

school.

🌱 PYD (Positive Youth Development) – 128 sessions focused on leadership, teamwork, and personal growth, supporting learners’ emotional and social development.

💧 WaterSmart Presentations – 5,329 learners  were reached through interactive drowning prevention and water safety talks presented in partnership

with Lifesaving South Africa. (9 schools)

Our PYD Camp Fun Starts With You.

The smiles, the breakthroughs, the sheer joy of our Positive Youth Development (PYD) Camp are moments that change lives and memories that last a lifetime—and they all begin with a supporter like you. We are hosting our 7th end-of-year camp from 8–12 December for 100 learners from our partner community schools — many of whom are our squad swimmers who began their journey in our Grade 4 drowning prevention lessons. We provide vulnerable youth with much more than just a simple camp; we provide a transformative, safe environment where they can build resilience, learn essential life skills, and discover their true potential and most importantly just be a kid.

We’re raising funds to make this possible — R1,200 sponsors one child. Every contribution helps us create lasting memories and much needed positive experiences for our youth. The Math of Success: Steady Gains and a Code 7 Triumph

A word from one of our tutors:

“This past term in Academic Support could be defined by the equation y= 1/2x + 3. There was a steady improvement in not only the academics of the pupils, but also the constant dedication to their bi-weekly attendance and commitment to learning in term 3. All of our pupils improved their maths marks, which was awesome to see!

One of whom, Rowena (middle), stood out this term. Rowena achieved a code 7 for maths on her report, which is the highest level— indicating a mark of over 80%. This could not be possible without her great work ethic and persistence to wanting to achieve more, both at school and during Academic Support sessions. Moreover, her friendliness, curiosity and enthusiasm shows that she has the qualities to achieve much more.”

We’re proud of all of the kids that attended our Academic Support Programme in term 3 and we’re looking forward to a successful term 4 to come!

Back-to-Back Bavo Verheyden Trophy Winners

EcoActive continues its impactful work in drowning prevention, and received the Bavo Verheyden Trophy for Best Drowning Prevention Initiative 2025 at the Lifesaving South Africa awards ceremony held in Durban in August.

This day perfectly embodied our belief in the transformative power of education and practical learning. What a day! The 2025 Muizenberg EcoActive Beach Run, our annual fundraiser was a huge success, with a turn out of almost 200 participants - it was all thanks to you, our amazing community.
